OnDemand Medical Tray Sealer with Inline Tyvek Lid Production

The SelectSeal ProMax OnDemand is a medical tray sealer that prints and cuts its own Tyvek lidding inline, so there is no need to purchase pre-cut, pre-printed lids for every tray format in production.

Built on a 4 station dial table, the ProMax OnDemand is designed for high SKU, low to mid-range volume sterile barrier packaging. It suits large instruments and medical kits packaged in 8 to 55 mil trays, typically PETG or HIPS with heat sealable Tyvek or medical paper lidding.

Material inputs are pre-formed trays and rollstock lidding. Because the lid is cut from rollstock sized to the tray rather than ordered as a pre-cut blank, there is no scrap waste from the Tyvek roll and no separate lid inventory to forecast, stock, or write off when a format changes.

Lidstock is cut before placement and sealing, not in the seal head. That protects seal quality and lid position on the tray, since no cutting force is applied at the moment the seal is made.

The seal station delivers 8000 lbf of press force for trays up to 32 inches long by 10 inches wide by 3 inches deep, running at 2 to 12 trays per minute. Tooling changes are simple, with no water, wiring or reheating required, and recipe scan to load provides automatic tool verification so the wrong tool cannot be run against a recipe.

The machine is cleanroom compatible and fully validatable to GMP requirements. Vision inspection covers the device, Tyvek graphics and variable data. Controls are an Allen-Bradley CompactLogix processor with a 12 inch PanelView Plus colour touchscreen, with open software architecture and no controls lock-in.

Typical applications include medical device manufacturers running many tray formats across a shared line, where the cost and lead time of holding pre-printed lids for each SKU is the limiting factor rather than throughput.
